An Adventure of a Life Time: Coachella 2015

I believe when you want something, you should ask the universe to help you achieve what you want. My first blog post ever was about my new years resolutions and how this year was IS going to be my year. So far many great things have come out of 2015, from getting a Mac (I’ve been wanting to get one forever), to starting my own blog, meeting Tory Burch, going camping for the first time, walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, winning yoga pants, and, to top it off, winning Coachella 2015 tickets!!! And its only April! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year is going to look like! I have so many goals I want to accomplish this year and can’t wait to see it all unravel in time. The best experience that has ever happen to me was winning Coachella tickets from Show Me Your Mumu. I can’t thank them enough for giving me the best adventure I’ve ever had. I’m still in shock I got the chance to go and bring my best friend (my mom) along for the ride. For those of you who don’t know what Coachella is, it is a 3 day weekend music festival with bands playing all though out the day and activities you can do. Basically it’s just a place to get away from the real world. When I found out I won I was in class at the time and saw that Show Me Your Mumu commented on the photo I reposted from them. My phone started acting up and wouldn’t load so I grabbed my friends phone and logged onto my account and saw that I won!! Right then I just started shaking and freaking out that I actually won the tickets. I just couldn’t believe it. Within minutes, everyone in my class found out I won. I was so excited I could tell the whole world! Of course I got right on the phone to call my mom to tell her the AWESOME news that we are going to Coachella. Before I reposted the photo that Show Me Your Mumu had on their Instagram I asked my mom if we could go in case I did actually win and she said “yes”, not thinking that I would win; she was shocked as well when I told her I won us tickets. Since I found out Monday that same week that Coachella weekend it was going to happen, all the hotels were booked or way too expensive so we opted for camping instead. Since we camped during spring break I thought it would be fun! And it would just be my mom and I so it would be even more fun! Just the two of us! We ended up camping at the Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages and the camp site was only 3 miles away from the music festival which was perfect. The camp site was gated, had nice hot showers (which was a plus), and not to mention that the staff working there were so nice and welcoming. Our camp site ended up being the perfect spot because we had a huge tree near by for lots of shade over our tent and we were right next to a pond that had a fountain so when we where going to sleep it sounded like rainfall in the back ground. Once again thank you to Show Me Your Mumu for sending me on the best adventure I’ve had in my life.

Day 1: Friday
The first day of an EPIC weekend! Coachella started at 11am-12pm each day, so my mom and I decided to get there around 1. The first thing we did each day was filling up our water bottles at the water stations to make sure we stayed hydrated throughout the day especially with the hot sun beaming on us. Next we wanted to walk around the whole festival to see where everything was at and just take it all in that we are actually here and it wasn’t a dream! Everything was just magical. Coachella to me is a world of happy people having the best time of their lives. Sephora had a booth there at Coachella and we ended up going there everyday. There was air conditioning, Sephora temporary tattoos, makeup application, photo booths, and a cool vending machine that if you posted a photo on Instagram and comment #sephoracoachella you get a free Sephora gift! I ended up with a face mask, lip balm, and hair ties! After we checked out the Sephora booth we went back to our camp site to rest up for a little bit until it got closer to when the main performers were going to be playing later that night. So about 2 hours past and now we were all ready to head back to the festival! My mom decided she wanted to walk there just so she could say that she walked there, haha. The plan was to walk there (3 miles) and take a taxi back, but what we didn’t realize was how many people where going to be taking taxis back since we stayed until Coachella ended for the day. The taxi line was about 100 people long and it would have taken over an hour to get back to our “home” so we ended up walking back as well. Never again will I listen to my mom about walking somewhere. My legs felt like they where going to fall off, they where like jello. I’m not kidding! Just walking around the festival and then the 6 miles on top of that to and from our camp site took over 30,000 steps! I’m so glad I convinced my mom to get us the FitBit the month before to track how many steps we walked everyday while we were there. I blame my shoes for my legs feeling like they where going to fall off… Next year I will have gel inserts so I can be more comfortable or just comfortable shoes that won’t kill my feet and give me blisters. We saw Steely Dan, Tame Impala, and ACDC, who killed it on stage; their performance was so intense! And to end the night we also saw Alesso who brought One Republic on stage! He’s an awesome DJ!

Day 2: Saturday
Instead of spending 10 dollars on a meal at Coachella like we did yesterday, we went to Chipotle instead before heading to the festival. We didn’t get to the festival until 2. Before heading to the main stage at Coachella to watch some of our favorite bands, we collected empty water bottles that people left on the ground. If you collect a certain amount of water bottles you can exchange them for prizes (VIP tickets, Coachella shirts, cold water bottles, etc.) which I thought was really neat. And let me just tell you there were tons of water bottles everywhere that people just liter. We brought a trash bag with us and ended up collecting 100 water bottles and exchanged them for ferris wheel tickets! After we did that we saw Bad Religion, Milky Chance, Hozier, alt-J, Jack White (he was probably the loudest performance there and he really got into his music, which was great), and finally The Weeknd (he killed it on stage! He really connected with the audience and I still can’t get over his performance).

Day 3: Sunday
This is the last day of Coachella. 😦 It was a sad day indeed, but it was also the best. Right when we got there around 2, we used our Ferris Wheel tickets that we got yesterday. I’ve never been on a Ferris Wheel before so what better time to finally go on one then at my first time at Coachella! Right when we got on I started freaking out. I’m not too big on heights, especially since this Ferris Wheel is always being built up again and again; you just never know if they missed a part and then it all falls apart. But at least the ride went quick and I can now say I’ve been on one! After that we headed over to the main stage at Coachella to make sure we were in the front row for Drake. All the other concerts we saw were always right up front but for Drake being the closer for Coachella we knew people were going to get there early to get right up front. So we got there 5 hours earlier and to see the other bands we wanted to see so it all worked out. Before Drake went on we saw St. Lucia, Marina and the Diamonds, Kaskade (his whole set up was awesome), Florence + the Machine (she really connected with the aduience by coming down to touch hands with everyone in the front row, including me! I think she went down about 3 times!! She was really down to earth with her music and was really into giving everything she got). Now Drake was the BEST performance in my opinion there! He just killed it with every song! He even brought out Madonna, who kissed him on stage, like really kissed him, but what else would you expect from Madonna… Overall Coachella has been an eye opener; it really encourages living your life to the fullest, making memories, and taking lots of photos to remember it all so you can relive the happy times over and over again. If you haven’t been to Coachella I definitely think you should go! It’s pricey but it’s worth it. From now on I’m going ever year. I’m already thinking about what I should wear next year. I can’t wait. I can’t thank Show Me You Mumu enough for picking me to go on this amazing adventure that I will never forget. Did you go to Coachella this year? What was your favorite part? Will you go next year? Let me know!!
